Theoretical modelling of atomic masses with uncertainty quantification remains a significant challenge, with profound implications for understanding nuclear stability and nucleosynthesis. We intro-duce SPICE (Shell-model Probabilistic Inference of Configuration Ensembles), the first probabilisticatomic mass model that employs local Bayesian averaging to emulate configuration mixing within asingle shell-model framework. SPICE leverages Gaussian processes to infer the mixing coefficientsof low-lying nuclear configurations as functions of neutron and proton numbers. It combines configurations from excitations across harmonic-oscillator and spin-orbit major shells. This approachachieves crucially a probabilistic description of atomic mass with quantified uncertainties as well asremarkably small root-mean-square deviations which outperform many global mass models. Theresults demonstrate that incorporating multiple configurations locally enhances predictive accuracy and provides insights into evolving shell structures near neutron- or proton-rich regions. This framework bridges empirical shell structure with probabilistic uncertainty quantification, offering apathway to explore nuclear properties in uncharted regions.

亓冲,现任瑞典皇家理工学院(KTH)长聘教授和博士生导师。他于2009年在北京大学获得博士学位,随后在2009-2011年在 KTH 担任博士后。2012年,他在 KTH 获得了长期研究员的职位,并在2018年被聘为长聘副教授。他在中山大学(2024年)和辽宁师范大学(2019年)担任荣誉教授。亓冲在学术界有着广泛的影响力,他曾荣获 Göran Gustafsson 大奖、IOP 杰出审稿人奖、CPC 顶级审稿人奖以及 EPJ 顶级审稿人奖。他还担任瑞典物理学会(SFS-KF)核物理部门的主席,以及 European Physics Journal A、Frontier in physics 的编委。他的研究兴趣包括理论核物理、集团衰变、超流体理论、多体关联以及相关的交叉研究领域。他的学术成果丰富,已在 Nature, Physical Review Letter 等国际知名期刊上发表了150多篇论文。
